Our Stallions

Garryowen of Suma (barn name "Shaun"), born February 13, 1984, is an Irish Draught Stallion bred by the renowned Suma Stud in County Meath, Ireland. He is the son of Pride of Shaunlara, out of Carlisheen Molly by Solohead. Shaun became the first RID stallion in Ontario, Canada, and one of only four in Canada in July 2003, after being inspected and approved.

Shaun’s story began at the Dublin Show in 1984, where he was the top weanling, and his dam won Reserve Champion mare. He was imported to Canada as a yearling but spent years in a pasture, largely forgotten. In 1991, Shaun moved to Orchard Park Stables, where he showed great potential in training. However, he returned to his owner for another seven years before being offered to Barb Bowen in 1998. She eagerly accepted and brought Shaun home, where he became part of their breeding program.

Shaun's legacy grew when he was later confirmed as the only son of Pride of Shaunlara in North America. After DNA verification and successful inspection, he was officially approved as an Irish Draught Stallion. Inspectors were impressed with his condition, strength, and clean legs, noting that Shaun represented the breed's traditional type, which was rare. His success as a sire was acknowledged, with his offspring earning praise for their quality and conformation.

Shaun's remarkable story is one of resilience and greatness. His approval as an RID stallion affirmed his exceptional traits, and his owners are proud of his legacy and the future of his progeny.

Our stunning Irish Draught Sport Horse was sired by Garryowen Of Suma (aka Shaun) out of our thoroughbred broodmare named Smudge.  Rapson was inspected at the Irish Draught inspection in September of 2023 and received a #1 grading for athleticism.

Meet Glenn Erinn Echo “Echo”, a 14 yr old registered 14.1hh Connemara Stallion, who came to us a couple of years ago, and has warmed our hearts with his incredible calm & gentle temperament.  Oh, and he’s not too hard on the eyes either.  This flashy boy is one of the prettiest horses on the property.  Truly a unicorn, his temperament is so calm and gentle he is our leading stallion in our breeding program for therapy horses. Gino was born in 2008. He came to us after encountering a career ending training injury and never reaching his true athletic potential as a thoroughbred racer.  As a stallion however, Gino's offspring have all proven to have very high athleticism and excellent, above average temperament.  His pedigree is equally impressive with his sire being "Smart Strike" and lineage going back to "Bold Ruler".

Born on August 1, 1989, at Orchard Park Stables, BamBam is the son of a mare, "Little Repo," who was bred by Roger Rogerson, sired by a Clydesdale stallion out of a French Coach mare. BamBam was the second foal out of Little Repo, sired by Sandy Blackall's stallion, Limited Finances ("Bert"), a grandson of Northern Dancer. Bambam had a stellar career including a second-place finish in the $25,000 Marshall & Sterling Jumper Classic in Ocala, Florida.

Vinny was born in 2000 and has an impressive pedigree having "Seattle Slew" as his grandsire.  He leaves a distinct mark on all of his offspring; they're always happy (ears forward), curious, brave and optimistic - and game for anything.  Vinny was the spitting image of his father, "Vindication" shown here in the photo.
